Adopting a dog for our family?

I want to ask this question because we have adoped a st bernard and i have 2 young kids which i am concerned about. The question is Have you ever been kissed (licked) by a slobbery dog (st bernard, mastiff, great dane. bulldog, boxer)? What did it feel like? How wet was it? The reason i want to know is because this st bernard slobbers a ton and is very affectionate (he likes to kiss your face, lips and mouth). My wife and i are ok with that and realy love the affection but i just want my 2 kids to not be alarmed or harmed by the slobber. The slobber is very overwelming and when he licks your face, lips, and mouth he leaves slobber dripping from your face! Is their anything we can do to get rid of the slobber? Is their any diseases they can get from being given wet slobbery kisses. Do you let your dog kiss you. Would you let your dog kiss you if it gave you wet slobbery kisses like this st bernard. I realize that this is one of the draw backs of getting a st bernard but me and my wife both wanted one for years. Is it ok to allow him to kiss us? even though he does slobber!

Yes I let my dogs give me kisses.
No-None of the slobber..If they did–They wouldn’t be kissin me!
and Yes–its okay to let the dog kiss you if your willing to deal with all the slobber.
No there is likely nothing you can do to stop the slobbering.
You could try wiping his mouth off when he’s done eating or drinking..
I have to do that with my bassethound because she slobbers so much..Good thing she doesn’t give kisses!

Of course its okay!
You never want to yell at a dog for giving you a kiss or trying to affectionate. As far as your kids go, let them see you with the dog. If they see that the dog is friendly with you and the dog slobbers you up, they will probably feel more comfortable. Maybe carry a towel on hand for a while to wipe the slobber a way.

You’ve asked this question many times and gotten lots of answers now. Since you’ve now adopted the dog, you must have decided that you can live with the slobbering. Yes, they slobber, and no, it won’t harm you. Have the kids wash their hands after handling the dog. It will be just fine.
