Are there any good websites that deal with drawing your own creatures?
Hello!
I LOVE to draw my own creatures…I mean like not cross-breads but full-blown mutants…are there any good websites (no books PLEASE) about this subject? I have already read the article by Will Kalif
(it was very good, but not what I’m looking for…) and I do not want to go buy any books on the subjects. I love to draw cute-n-cuddly buddies and rip-your-head-clean-off-in-one-move monsters. When I say ‘full-blown mutants, I mean not like a rabbit-fish or a dog-horse, but like a modified Chinese dragon with the works who loves to collect stuffed animals, and a cute little bunny rabbit who can bench-press 300 pounds. I mean one-of-a-kind creatures, original beauties, wonderful creations. Please help me!

I don’t think you will find anything specifically about designing such creatures (especially such a wide range of them), firstly because it’s an unusual area and secondly because the actual form of such a creature comes entirely from an artist’s imagination. What I suggest you do is study basic drawing techniques and things like human and animal anatomy, which will enable you to build creatures easily and with a basis in realism – even fantastical things need that. Bear in mind that even the best internet tutorials won’t be anywhere near as useful as books or DVDs by good teachers of drawing, so you may want to reconsider that – remember libraries have books too.
I think the best I can offer you is this:
(a in-depth art tutorial geared toward anthro artists, and so it includes information on animal anatomy which should be useful to you).
Good luck.
