Dog Question ?

I want to ask this question because i am getting a st bernard and i have 2 young kids which i am concerned about. The question is Have you ever been kissed (licked) by a slobbery dog (st bernard, mastiff, great dane. bulldog, boxer)? What did it feel like? How wet was it? The reason i want to know is because this st bernard slobbers a ton and is very affectionate and i just want my 2 kids to not be alarmed or harmed by the slobber. Is their any diseases they can get from being wet slobbery kisses. Do you let your dog kiss you. Would you let your dog kiss you if it gave you wet slobbery kisses like this st bernard. I realize that this is one of the draw backs of getting a st bernard but me and my wife both want one.

First of all, if you’re that concerned about the St. Bernard hurting your kids, then you shouldn’t be getting a dog that large with two kids. Either wait until the kids are older and can handle being around a dog that large, or get a smaller dog until they are old enough.
Also, I let my dog give me kisses all the time, just not after she’s been licking herself. But then again, I’m no kid, and she only weighs 40 lbs, and full grown. She will get no where near the size of a St. Bernard.

The kids have to come before your desire for a dog of any breed.
Tell them what to expect.
Visit a breeder so you all get first hand experience.
Bring towels.

St. Bernard’s drool a great deal. Is it harmful ? Not that I know of but I can tell you the drool is nothing compared to their shedding ! Even so, I think they are great dogs !

i don’t think it’s harmful.. but it is best that you never leave your children unsupervised with dogs and also teach them how behave/approach dogs…
