Millard

I live in michigan as well. My brother let my dog out and he bit a lady that was walking down the road in front of our driveway. We showed animal control his license and proof of his rabies vaccination. We had to keep him quarantined ourselves for 7 days. We just had to make sure that he was on a chain and in a fence at all times during that 7 days. We had to go to court and pay a $110 fine. That's all that happened there, so I don't know why they would remove your dog(s) from your home.

Galina

The same thing happened to me but my dog was late with his shots. I had to let him stay at the vet's for 10 days.

The Animal Control Officer said that if his shots had been up to date he could have stayed home (like house arrest).

Lewis

Did your dogs have a rabies tag indicating that they had had their shots?

If not, then this is usual and customary.

You might think about getting locks on the doors to prevent your two year old from "getting out."
